Chennai – The queen of coromandel….. That’s how I want it to be called as, the city where I live, the gorgeous city of Tamilnadu, India.
Though I was not born in Chennai, however I was brought-up in this city and I wish my future to be with her. I love this city. People tell me that it’s so obvious, you have lived here for past 21 yrs and that’s the reason why you love it. Generally u fall in love with the thing/place, to which you belong to, it may be true.
There are so many reasons to fall in love with this city.
The reason why I love this city the most is because of the beaches, but there are beaches in Mumbai, Kolkata too, what’s new about Chennai beaches. They have the same sand, water, shore, Small vendors – who sell Mangoes and other yummy items, the couples, the horoscope tellers. But about Chennai beaches its lot more.
The Marina- used to be famed for its pristine beauty, jolly ambiance, and rich ecosystems. The beach is popular for its shops and food stalls. The memorials and statues, morning walk, joggers' track, lovers' spot, aquarium, etc., make it a hangout for people of all ages. The sea is rough and waves are strong. There are fishermen colonies present at both ends of the beach. Apart form the famous Marina beach there are other beaches like the Bessy, ECR (Private Beaches), Broken Bridge
Apart from beaches, I love the culture of Chennai. There are different caste people; obviously India is a Secular country. Be it a Hindu, Jain, Muslim, Sikh or any other person they all, somewhere, within them think alike. People in Chennai are very friendly, they are optimistic.
Shoppinggggg…. Bingo. I love shopping (a girly thingy... she owns her rite on this... lol...). You got so many area’s to shop it’s not only different areas, each area has a tag of price with it. The cheapest and the place where you get everything is the famous Parry’s Corner – A very old and famous location in Chennai, you’ve a small area in parry’s (Ppl actually called it as a mini City) named, Sowcarpet a place where you can everything (but its tooo crowded and the roads are very small). T. Nagar- very famous for the big names in Chennai – Saravana Store, Potheys, Nalli, Kumaran. This area has a street named Raganathan Street – believe it or not u stand on one end of the street and without you walking you are on the other end of the street, it’s so damn crowded. Other Poosh Places like Nungambakkam, Adyar etc.. There are so many malls to have fun around and shop, the newest and TN biggest mall Express Avenue (My Fav.).
Vehicles… I still remember till my 7 Grade I use to travel to School in Rickshaw for the price of minimum Rs. 7 and Maximum Rs. 12. And the fun I and my Rickshaw mates use to have are just memories which one cannot forget easily. Some days when we get mad and get a mood to drive the Rickshaw, we use to drop our tiffin box or water bottle Cap in the middle of the road and ask the Rickshaw men to go get it, and by the time he comes one of us (in-turns) use to sit on the driver’s seat. He use to yell at us, but who cares the others use to make his mouth shut and asks him to walk along, while the person on the driver’s seat drives and the rest have fun. Funny days…..
But now-a-days, the Auto fellow’s and their demands…ufff… The same three wheeler vehicle as a Rickshaw, the difference is that Auto has an engine, and main thing for the argument PETROL. Sometimes it’s so funny to argue with them, for a distance of not even a Km for 3 persons he demands Rs. 30, and he tells per person Rs. 10. So, that means, if it’s one person travelling alone he will charge Rs. 10?? It’s still 30 right?? Crap logic.... But is fun arguing… I remember my college days when I use to stand half n hour to catch a auto at my rate…. My friends have so much fun when I argue with these auto fellow’s, because of my Tamil (Chennai’s local Language) the way I talk…
Fooddddddd……………. Chennai is a place where there are so many Veg. Restaurant and so many coming up. The Largest Chain of Restaurant in Chennai is the famous The Saravana Bhavan… Yummyyy Sambar. You‘ll get the same taste throughout their branches. Next is the Murugan Idli Shop… Yummy different varieties of Chuttines…. And the all-time fav The Ratana Café …….. And last but not the least the best south- Indian Meals you get in Sangeetha and National Hotel (In Sowcarpet and Moutroad- GP road).
